Born on February 17, 1971, in Downers Grove, Illinois, Denise Lee Richards moved to Oceanside, California, with her family when she was 15 years old.

After graduating from El Camino High School in 1989, Denise began modeling in Paris, Tokyo and New York. But despite the fame she had achieved, Denise wanted more. She decided to try her hand at acting and auditioned for various parts in television shows and movies.

Denise was successful from the get-go. She landed a string of guest appearances on television shows like Life Goes On, Saved by the Bell, Married with Children , Eerie, Indiana, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Seinfeld.

Denise's stint on Seinfeld catapulted her into the limelight. In the 1993 episode, she played the young daughter of an NBC executive who was about to cut a deal with George and Jerry before he caught them looking down his daughter's blouse.

In 1993, Denise also landed a small movie role opposite Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson in Loaded Weapon 1. Over the course of the next couple of years, Denise continued to guest-star in several made-for-TV movies and television series, the most significant of which was a three-episode stint on Aaron Spelling's prime-time soap Melrose Place in 1996.

Then, in 1997, after having starred in the big-screen flop Nowhere, Denise landed her first significant film role in Starship Troopers.

The following year, Denise cemented her star status when she appeared with Neve Campbell and Matt Dillon in Wild Things. Her sexy role in the film -- not to mention her threesome scene -- transformed her into one of the most desired celebrities in Hollywood.

In 1999, Denise starred in the appropriately titled Drop Dead Gorgeous and in the indie flick Tail Lights Fade, but they didn't see the same success as her two previous films.

Fortunately, that same year, Denise had the honor of playing a Bond Girl opposite Pierce Brosnan in The World Is Not Enough. Although her performance was panned by critics, the film was a box-office success.

In 2001, Denise starred in the horror flick Valentine and in Good Advice, on the set of which she met Charlie Sheen, whom she married the following year in June. She also made appearances on the popular television series Friends and Spin City.

In 2002, Denise appeared in Empire alongside John Leguizamo and in the surprise hit comedy of the year, Undercover Brother. She also teamed up with Luke Wilson and Ben Affleck in The Third Wheel and starred opposite Milla Jovovich in You Stupid Man.

The following year, Denise appeared in the romantic comedy Love Actually with Keira Knightley and Hugh Grant, as well as in the horror-comedy Scary Movie 3.

In March 2004, Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen welcomed their first daughter, Sam, into the world. Having a baby didn't slow Denise down, as she appeared alongside Daryl Hannah in Yo puta (2004) and with Kim Basinger in Elvis Has Left the Building (2004), as well as in two episodes of her husband's sitcom, Two and a Half Men. In December 2004, Denise proved that she was back in top form when she posed nude for Playboy.

In March 2005, less than a month before their second daughter, Lola Rose, was born, Denise filed for divorce from Charlie Sheen. Although the couple briefly reconciled, Denise announced in January 2006 that she was proceeding with the divorce. In fact, she claimed that Charlie was verbally and physically abusive to her, even threatening to kill her, and she obtained a restraining order against him.

Denise caused even more controversy in April 2006 when she began dating her best friend Heather Locklear's ex-husband, Richie Sambora, immediately after their split.

In November 2006, Denise finally obtained her divorce from Charlie Sheen. However, the drama wasn't over, as Denise found herself in the tabloids again after throwing a photographer's laptop over a balcony when he tried to take pictures of her.

In 2007, Denise's personal life seemed to return to normal, and she was able to concentrate on her career once again. She appeared opposite Pamela Anderson in the comedy Blonde and Blonder and in the drama Jolene.
