Biography of Emmanuelle Chriqui
Emmanuelle Sophie Anne Chriqui was born on December 10, 1977, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and grew up in the Toronto area. Bitten by the acting bug at the age of 9, her older brother Serge helped finance acting lessons for his baby sister. She made her professional debut in a television commercial for McDonald's -- the first of several TV ads she appeared in. With dreams of an acting career, she honed her craft in the Arts York Drama Program at Unionville High School, where she received a creative arts-oriented education.

In the middle of the 1990s, following high school, Emmanuelle Chriqui moved to Vancouver and began landing parts on Canadian TV shows such as Once a Thief, Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal while also working as a waitress to help make ends meet. Roles in several made-for-TV movies like Harrison Bergeron (1995), Unwed Father (1997), Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County (1998), and Futuresport (1998) with Wesley Snipes and Vanessa Williams helped prepare her for the next step of her career.

In 1999, the Canadian actress made her debut in an American feature film with a supporting role in the ‘70s-era comedy Detroit Rock City. Playing popular girl Claire Bonner in the 2000 Nickelodeon-produced comedy Snow Day with Chevy Chase helped increase her profile in Los Angeles, and led to roles in the teen comedies 100 Girls (2000), Ricky 6 (2000) and On The Line (2001) with 'N Sync's Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. The lad's magazines began taking notice of this new young talent around this time as well, as she made it onto Stuff magazine's Sexiest Women In The World list for 2001.

After a couple of quiet years, Emmanuelle Chriqui returned in 2003, appearing on an episode of Jake 2.0 and in the horror flick Wrong Turn with Eliza Dushku. She was busier than ever in 2005, appearing on the big screen in The Crow: Wicked Prayer with Edward Furlong, Tara Reid and Dennis Hopper, as Dolly in In the Mix and as Tyla in the comedy Waiting. She also played a memorable Eve in National Lampoon's Adam and Eve. While those film roles gained her a fair amount of exposure, it was Emmanuelle Chriqui’s television work that year that really put her on the map as a rising star in Hollywood.
